I first started investing in the mid-90s after having finished grad school, paid off all my loans, and finally having some disposable income. At that time, I was more keen on being able to buy a house. I plowed some of it into stock investments that I researched through my Morningstar. Overall, I was okay at it, but not great. Moreover, it was an activity that I didn’t particularly enjoy.

Things I am bad at Things I am good at
Things I don’t enjoy Public speaking, stock investing Laundry, Automobile maintenance
Things I enjoy Ham radio, long-distance cycling Cooking, learning new things

but not great, so I started adding some mutual funds.

By mid-2005, I was exclusively mutual funds, preferring index funds have been investing since the mid-90s, initially owning individual stocks, then gravitating towards mutual funds. By around mid-2005, I had enough with stocks and have been working exclusively with Mutual Funds.

Index funds are interesting because they’re passive and, by virtue of being mechanical, tend to have low fees.

Then this year, I read of While I think SpaceX’s rocket and Starlink are cool, all of the other stuff lumped into wit

There is a lot to hate about the prospectus. The prospectus was a piece of work.

First, it’s three businesses: The rocket business is Falcon and Falcon Heavy have proven very reliable and are launching at a pace that is which is Falcon, Falcon Heavy and “Starship.”

  • Starlink - low-earth orbit internet, made successful by the Falcon rockets.
  • “Everything else.”
