Here’s a recipe for a homemade sports drink I used on STP. It’s adapted from Arnie Baker’s
Bicycling Medicine. I threw in the lime because I needed to use it up before it went bad. You could use any citrus fruit or unsweetened juice.
Sports drink – adapted from Arnie Baker’s recipe
4 Valencia Oranges, juiced
1 Lime, juiced
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 C sugar
2 3/4 quarts waterYield: about 100 oz
I like this mixture because it doesn’t have all the other chemical gunk some of the newer super-drinks have. (In particular, it lacks B-vitamins which make pee yellow, and one might confuse with dehydration.)
