My first iPhone hide

As GPS-enabled phones become more popular, there have been a lot of geocaches placed by people using phones.   Many of these will have serious “adjustments” to their posted coordinates because the person placing it just took a single reading, using whatever their phone was reporting and called it good.  Usually these adjustments are anywhere from

Geocache Queries

I like to keep my GPS pre-loaded with as many geocaches as possible so if I’m out and about with a few minutes to kill, I have info on what’s nearby.  The phone application seems like it would be ideal for this, since it can query on-the-fly, but the implementation has a lot of problems,

Unlike the Delorme or Thomas Guide challenges, where one finds a cache in a region defined by each page of the respective road atlas (and does a lot of driving in the process), this one

Fort Worth

Last week was my first time visiting Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex’s better half. When I had the opportunity to be outside (80°F and sunny, in April!), I wandered around downtown, letting the numerous virtual geocaches guide my travels. (All photos, except the USPS one, are mine. Click to embiggen.) This mural (a block over), is typical

Peace Sign Series

Whew! 80.62 miles driven, 8 1/2 hours geocaching with JustMike & hydnsek, 43 puzzle caches* in the series, plus a couple of others along the way. *Puzzle caches aren’t at their listed locations (hence the puzzle), so no scuba diving of Lake Washington was necessary.  The actual distribution of caches looked more like this: Since
